After our long night of not sleeping well, we enjoyed apples & Jamba Juice for breakfast. Both were delicious and helped to make up for McDonald's the night before :)
We're were so excited for the heat to be back on (or at least turned up again!) and for our trip to really begin!
Since we slept by our gate we saw when our bags were placed onto this orange cart. We sensed a slight problem, however, when all the other luggage going onto the plane was from a different cart. They knew what they were doing and our luggage made the flight.
From Denver to NewarkMarcel probably took 100 pictures from the plane and I'll spare you all of them but this one:
It was no small feat getting from Newark to NYC but we made it. We had to take 3 rides on different public transit. This picture is from the "PATH train" which is what actually got us to the World Trade Center.
Then we had to walk about 10 blocks (with 3 suitcases, and each wearing a backpack) to our hotel. We picked a Best Western as close as we could find to the 9/11 Memorial because our tickets were for a specific time so we had no time to mess around with being on the wrong side of town. Here's what we saw when we looked our the window of our hotel room. Looks worse than what it was. The hotel was actually very beautiful. We didn't have a lot of time before our tour but we did spend time to make sure we knew where we were going and that we had everything we needed for our night in the Big Apple!
Ready to explore!
Again, Marcel probably took 100+ pictures of architecture and I'll spare you all but one!
But you won't be spared from seeing this exceptionally tall building. It was so much taller than I ever thought it would be.
And then we started our tour: The fountains were more serene and peaceful than I ever imagined they would be. It was such an unique feeling being there. It felt wrong to be talking; like it deserved a moment of silence the whole time we were on the grounds. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves!
